Friday Fitness with our Mystery Freeletics Athlete - Week 8

Where are the weeks going? 8 weeks already? Really? We are just over the half way mark and I think our mystery Freeletics athlete is doing a mighty fabulous job. Someone made a comment that they didn't see much progress in her pictures, little did they read how she has changed her lifestyle around and living more healthier and making a conscious effort to incorporate regular exercise within her week supported by great food. That deserves a 10 outta 10 in my book! You go girl, I am so proud of you.

See you again next week!
xxDani

Weekly journal update

Freeletics week 8

This week I feel I needed a big kick to keep me going.  I loved the exercises but I was feeling a little sluggish and felt like I needed to cleanse my insides!  So I added a 3 day juice cleanse to my program.  I must say the first day was ok, the second I could have eaten my arm off and the third has been great.  I thought I would lose my energy and wouldn’t be able to do my freeletics but I actually have just as much energy. Now that is over I feel great and I am looking forward to getting back to the eating guidelines from Freeletics.

I can see my hips shrinking in the pics and I love it. My motivation for next week is seeing my hips in these pictures.  You can see that the layer of fat on them is slowly shrinking. I will always have hips, I just want to get rid of the fat layer on them! I do want to tone my stomach more as I feel that those images are hard to see any changes.  I wonder if there has been so much stretching from 2 kids and lots of excess weight that I will never get it toned and smooth again. I am not stressing over that, but it would be nice!

Food Diary:

Breakfast
Chia pudding with a piece of fruit

Morning snack
Yogurt with fruit & nuts

Lunch
Tuna salad

Afternoon snack
Banana and tea

Dinner
Grilled salmon with blueberry pear salad

Hard parts this week:

Adding the juice detox and just juicing for 3 days, that was HARD! I love my food so it was hard to not eat, especially when I am making yummy meals for my kids and husband! Freeletics workouts were great this week.

Freeletics Friday with our Mystery Transformation Athlete Weeks 6 & 7

She's back!!!

Even our Freeletics mystery athlete didn't let her ankle let her down, she persisted and she shares her journal with us for the last few weeks she missed. So we are playing a bit of catch up hence 2 weeks in the 1 post today.

Please show her some support by leaving words of encouragement, it's a tough gig being out there in the world wide web and having us cheer her along keeps her so motivated.

Thanks for sharing and we look forward to reading from you next week!

xxDani

Freeletics Week 6

So…. This week I fell off the bandwagon… well actually I think I jumped off it whole heartedly!  I was tempted by everything and because I felt like I had been good then I deserved to slack off and eat what I wanted and drink what I wanted. Just take a look at my pics, I think that you can tell. I am embedding this feeling into my mind.  It’s the feeling of disappointment.  I am disappointed in myself for giving in. Don’t get me wrong, I had a great time eating and drinking and playing up with my mates.  However my body didn’t appreciate it.  I feel sluggish and guilty.  I don’t like those feelings so back on the band wagon next week, actually squat jumping back onto that bandwagon!

Hard parts this week:

All of it!  I just didn’t make time to prep meals or exercise so I went back to my old ways of quick and easy food and not as much exercise as I would have liked. I blame my injured ankle for playing a part in my social and party week this week. Oops!

Freeletics Week 7

Bandwagon going along full steam ahead! I have been really good this week, I have been having salad plus protein most days and nights. One night I made a delicious couscous with almonds sprinkled through it.  That was delicious! On the exercise front, there have been less burpees this week and I think that has helped motivate me to do the exercises. The pics this week show a slight improvement over last week. My hips are where I am really seeing the difference. My muffin top is slowly melting away.

Hard parts this week:

Actually nothing!  I was really motivated this week, I am wondering if my slack week last week was what I needed to get me back on track?

Freeletics on a Friday with our Mystery Free Athlete

WOW! What a week, how did you survive Christmas? I know personally my belly is bloated and I really didn't make too many healthy choices but hey! today is a brand new day right?

Having said that lets not delay with our Freeletics Athlete, let's see how week 2 went for her including all the Christmas temptations....

Week 1 vs Week 2

How long are the workouts taking you? Are they difficult or are you getting stronger?

I am loving the workouts this week and I am getting quicker. It's awesome to see the time of all your workouts and to see if you are beating it, it's good motivation and I get a kick out of beating my time. It may not be the fastest... but it's my time and my journey!

I think I am getting stronger with the burpees because I can get lower to the ground when I jump my feet out. I am sure it will get harder but this week has helped me build my confidence that my body can actually do this!

What workouts did you do this week?

I did a lot of aphrodite workouts and burpee max ones. Check out the website for the details as you can sign up for that one for free.

What are you eating and how did you cope with all the Christmas festivity foods and drinks?

I love the freeletics nutrition guide as it gives you direction on how to eat well. I am incorporating protein into my meals based on the advice they give you. I have had a lot of salads because it is so hot! Christmas was hard but I gave myself 2 days to have drinks and treats. You have gotta live, but now I am back on track!

Here's how simple my breakfast is, scrambled eggs with spinach and cherry tomatoes. Done in 5 minutes! Super tasty.

What's motivated you this week to exercise regularly and where have you been working out?

The motivation for me this week has been SUMMER!! It is hot and I am bearing more skin so I need to tone up. The benefit of it being so hot is that I have been doing my workouts outside! It is so nice, I have even done sone barefoot to feel the grass on my feet. So refreshing!

What was the hardest thing you found this week with exercise and nutrition?

The hardest thing this week has been temptation. So much yummy food, chocolates, wine. It has been soooo hard! That is why I gave myself 2 days off. I didn't want to feel guilty for eating the food but I also didn't want to ruin my excercise! So 2 days was my compromise and I feel better for it!

***

Thank you to our beautiful Freeletics athlete for sharing her journey with us this week. It takes a lot of guts and determination  to share this kind of transformation with the world every week. No pressure!!! ;-) Keep up the terrific work!

Freeletics Friday - Mystery Transformation

Hello everyone.

I am very excited to share with you our very first Freeletics Mystery Transformation athlete. One of my readers has just commenced her first week of Freeletics. We will take you on a journey over the next 15 weeks (and yes I too will appear with my own Freeletics results) however this is all about you and how you too can change your lifestyle around and lead a healthier and fit life.

Let me introduce you to this amazing Mother of 2, ages 6 and 4. She has totally embraced the Freeletics program and would like to share that even ordinary people can make a change if they really set their mind to it. Remember that motto MIND over MATTER. If you truly want it, you are the only person that can make that change.

Here are some questions I asked our Mystery Freeletics athlete about how Week 1 went;

What's your overall thoughts on the Freeletics program and did you survive Week 1?

I can't tell you how many burpees I have done during week one of Freeletics...the hardest excercise ever... but at the same time the best excercise ever! Who said that getting results was meant to be easy?
The eating has been good, although it is hard seeming it is the silly season! The nutrition does not seem to be restrictive, just a few ideas and tips on what to incorporate at all meals.

All in all a good week! Next week may be harder... but I am looking forward to more burpees ;)

What is the biggest challenge you faced this week? How did you overcome it?

The biggest challenge this week was to actually do the max tests. It was very daunting the thought of performing 300 secs worth of burpees. I think that is what can stop people, how daunting some tasks may seem. I just thought to myself, just do it and in 300 secs you will know if it was that bad.... so I just did it.  It was hard but I felt great at the end of it, I didn't think I could do 300 secs of Burpees.

What made you decide it was time to make a change?

I recently went away on a holiday and didn't feel as comfortable in my skin as I should. I am a fit person but I am not toned and I don't eat as healthy as I could. I needed to do something about that. I want to look as good as I feel, in a sense that I feel fit but when I look in the mirror I get disgruntled that I don't look as fit as I feel. I want to feel good and see my strength.

Why did you choose Freeletics over the hundreds of other options?

I saw Dani talking about Freeletics on her website and I just loved the idea of being able to log into a website off my Ipad or phone and do my exercise. With working and 2 kids, I sometimes don't have time for me until 8:30 at night, with freeletics, I can just log on and do it anywhere in the house or on the road if I am away for work. I love the freedom it presents to me.

How long do the workouts take you and are they difficult?

It's hard work! The Freeletics session takes between 15-20mins and I try to beat my time each session. As I mentioned above, nothing good ever comes easy and I haven't been exercising for a while so I guess my body just needs to condition itself.

What are you eating?

Eggs for breakfast, meat and carbs for lunch, meat and vegetables for dinner! The nutrition guide is brilliant so many beautiful meals to choose from.

What motivates you to exercise regularly and where do you workout?

My motivation comes from the ease of just picking up my ipad and doing it wherever and whenever I can... at home before the kids get up, before kids go to bed or even with the kids outside.  It's so versatile there is no excuse.

What equipment do you use for training and what do you love most about it?

I use my workout mat, take a drink bottle, iPad and a towel. The other equipment I use is just my body weight so there is no unnecessary fitness gadgets used to do this program. I love it! Especially connoting with other Freeletics athletes all across the world. Even my husband is thinking of doing the program, which will be great motivation for us both.

* * *

Thank you so so much for your first weeks insight into Freeletics. I can't wait to see how you go next week!

Workout Wednesday and reset your goals

Reseting my goals. Seriously I have dropped the ball this winter, I know...... 5kgs 11lbs isn't a big deal but that's when I get comfortable and just keep eating crapola, not exercising and before you know it!!! 20kgs later you are wondering how the heck you got here?

Are you ready to reset your goals? Here are a few simple things to remind us.

I will help you by listing what I will be eating and my exercise regime.

So breakfast is going to be purely based on goodness from now on like this amazing apple & strawberry crumble sprinkled with cinnamon.

Breakfast

Apple and strawberry crumble for breakfast

Morning and afternoon snacks will consist of fresh fruit and vegetables, protein based products such as yogurt and cottage cheese. Also for those busy days, a smoothie on the run is always a winner!

Morning and afternoon snacks

Morning and afternoon snack ideas

Can't forget my amazing 180 Nutrition protein drinks for pre and post workouts. I love the chocolate protein powder with a banana, walnuts, vanilla essence, your choice of milk (or you can use water) and I add some oats to fill me up even more. Simply delish.

Smoothie

Healthy chocolate protein smoothie

Lunch will depend if I am at home or I take it away. Here is a fresh lunch idea which you can have at home and also take with you if you are on the go!

Store in an airtight container and drizzle with olive oil and lemon juice when you are ready to eat. Grab whatever seasonal vegetables/salad you have in your fridge, wash, chop, grate and slice your vegetables. For added protein add either a tin of tuna/salmon, legumes or cooked meat.

Lunch

Healthy lunch ideas

For dinner, I like to eat light and not too heavy so I will either omit the heavy tummy feeling I get from eating ordinary pasta and replace it with vegetable ones or wholemeal pasta. Here is my zucchini pasta (simply use a vegetable peeler and slice your raw zucchini) served with bolognese sauce.

Dinner

Fresh healthy dinner ideas

As far as those nights that I feel like something sweet, I will either drink water or herbal teas to curb my cravings but if I am really desperate I will make these amazing peanut butter chocolate filled raspberries. Simply mix cacao powder with peanut butter.

Healthy snack ideas

So as you can see, we can do this together. We just need to plan and be prepared for those times we just grab a take away meal or a bad food choice. The main point to remember is you will eat what you buy. So please stock up your pantry and fridge with goodness.

Fitness

This is the other thing I am committing to. The Freeletics program is really intense so I want to ensure that I am getting enough sleep and fuelling my body. The next session I am doing is burpee max and between you and I, I loathe burpees but it's a total body workout so I know it's doing me good. For those that haven't registered or got their Freeletics guide CLICK HERE

We can also track one another on the app on iTunes so come find me and please join our 15 week transformation challenge. I will post my before pics ASAP to give me motivation not to give up over these next 15 weeks.

Please list your goals below as we strive to get back on track.

Much love and friendship,
XxDani
